EFB-Quote is a Palm Pilot
application that allows the user to perform per hour or per mile quotes on
as many as 200 different types of aircraft. Each airport has arrival and
departure delay times built into the database, as well as, default winds and
landing fees. Quotes by the hour to or from that airport would automatically
include the appropriate delays. All quotes would include landing fees, RONs
and catering.
One-way, two-way and multiple leg trips can be quoted and saved.
An optional AC-U-Kwik database can be installed on one handheld. |

| Quoting |
The aircraft is selected
from a pull-down list. Once a quote is created, the aircraft can be changed
to view the same trip in a different aircraft. Airports are entered using
3-4 letter identifiers.
A "per mile" or "per hour" quote can be generated on any aircraft.
Airport delays and winds are ignored for "per mile" quotes. Additional fees
such as catering and standby hours can be added to each leg. Each aircraft
has a unique minimum LEG flight time (or $ amount) and a minimum TRIP dollar
amount.
Additionally, each aircraft has a 1st and 2nd hour cruise speeds.
Landing fees can be set for each airport (globally if desired). |
|
| Saving Trips |
The quoted trips can be
saved, viewed and modified. |
 |
| Aircraft |
Up to 200 aircraft types can
be entered. Each aircraft maintains its own rates for per mile and per hour
quoting.
Each aircraft has a unique minimum LEG flight time (or $ amount) and a
minimum TRIP dollar amount.
Additionally, each aircraft has a 1st and 2nd hour cruise speeds.
Standby/hour and FET tax rate are
attached to each aircraft. |
 |
| Minimums |
Two quote minimums are optionally set by the user for
each aircraft. Leg Minimum and Trip Minimum.
The Leg Minimum for an
aircraft adjusts the minimum flight hours for the leg. This minimum can also
be set as a minimum leg amount ($).
For example: If
a UCA-SYR trip is entered with an unadjusted flight time of 0.1 hrs (which
includes wind and flight delay affects) , the flight time will be reported
as 0.5 hrs for 1-way flight (or 1.0 hrs for 2-way).
If the
Leg Minimum
for this specific aircraft is set to a number greater than ten, (500 for
example), then regardless of the actual flight time, the leg dollar amount
will be the greater of $500 (1-way, $1000 for 2-way) or the rate/hr X flight
time ( optionally rate/mile X distance), which ever is greater.
Additional fees are added on top of this
adjustment.
The Trip Minimum is the minimum dollar
amount for the entire trip. If the total dollar amount, excluding FET,
is below this amount, the total trip amount will display as this value plus
FET. The individual legs will appear as calculated from the leg entry
screen. |
 |
| Landing Fees |
The landing fee is set to a
multiplier of the weight of the aircraft. This setting can
be set globally (all airports) or individually for any airport. This allows
aircraft of different "weights" to be assessed different landing fees. The value
can also be set to a specific amount versus a formula.
Other fees can be added as shown. |
 |
| Airport & Winds Database |
Contains most airports over
3000 feet found worldwide. Other airports and their coordinates can be
added. Each airport has an assigned
wind direction and speed. These values are used in determining the enroute
time between airport pairs when quoting "by the hour". The winds are set
from the factory but can be changed individually or globally (all airports)
at any time. This might be used during winter when winds are stronger and
more out of the north. During a quote the leg is broken into three equal
parts. The winds for the beginning and ending part come from the airport of
departure and arrival respectively. The average of the two winds is used for
the middle section. This provides a better estimate of the actual winds than
averaging the two winds and applying it to the entire leg. |
 |
| Airport Data |
Optionally, two databases can
be purchased; one for US and Canada and one for all airports (World). The databases include a searchable (by city name
or 3-4 letter identifier) airport and VOR databases of general information, frequencies,
approaches, runway lengths, phone numbers and addresses for airports, FBOs,
hotels, caterers, handlers, protective services, weather services, custom
restrictions, charter companies and more. The North American databases are updated
four
times a year. User notes can be affixed to each airport. |

above. PocketPC Palm Pilot or PocketPC device or compatible such as Handspring Visor,
Ipaq or Sony
Installation on Tungsten T5 and Treo 650 has been
confirmed by customers. The installation must be to the core memory
and not to an expansion card.
Without the airport database, any PDA with a 2MB capacity can be used.
Multiple aircraft can be installed on a 2MB device depending upon
available space and the type of aircraft installed. Contact CAVU for further
details.
