General

EFB-91 is a Palm Pilot application that is uniquely designed for general aviation pilots. The program allows the user to calculate density altitude and weight & balance values for their specific flight and aircraft.

Numerous useful conversion routines are available such as Avgas Liters to Pounds etc.

A currency log keeps track of important pilot inspections and reviews such as BFRs and medicals.

An aircraft "currency" section tracks inspections and time limits for the aircraft, such as the ELT expiration and VOR checks etc. These lists are modifiable as is a squawk section where notes on the aircraft can be kept.

An easy to use Airspace Review section keeps the pilot up-to-date on FAR requirements regarding mandatory equipment, cloud separation / visibility and communication procedures for the various classes of airspace.

A searchable weather abbreviation database also is present.

Click on images below to see large view.
ATIS Values Displayed in the order that ATIS information is broadcast, the pilot enters pertinent weather information. The "flight" can be saved for later review.

The density altitude and crosswind component is calculated and displayed along with important take-off, enroute and landing V speeds.

Weight & Balance The specific seat and baggage configuration for the user’s aircraft is displayed. The user simply enters the weights corresponding to the station and the new gross weight and CG are displayed. Fuel weight is entered in a similar manner.

All configurations can be altered by consulting the operating manual.

The resulting CG is then displayed graphically within the operating envelop for the aircraft as a small dot.

Stopwatch A count up and count down stopwatch is provided with an easy to use interface. The large on-screen buttons do not require the stylus but can be manipulated with the pilot’s finger. The stopwatch value flashes when the value of zero is reached but continues to count down to alert the pilot.
Climb Gradient The climb gradient in EFB-91 calculates the feet per minute gradient (i.e. 200 feet/nautical mile) if the ground speed and VSI values are known. If the feet per nautical mile value is known, the required VSI (no wind) value is displayed. The gradient expressed in % is also displayed.
IAS to TAS This calculation requires only the values available to the pilot within the cockpit. Enter the values from the altimeter etc and the conversion is displayed.
Conversions Numerous general aviation conversions are available from a pull down list. Depending upon the conversion, the appropriate known value is entered and the conversion is automatically displayed.
Currency Both the pilot and the aircraft is kept up-to-date by maintaining the currency section for both. Default entries common to all pilots and aircraft, such as BFR and Annuals respectively, are built in but a few customizable fields are left for the pilot to create. The pilot enters the date of the last BFR (VOR check, Annual etc) and the next BFR due date is displayed.

A separate squawk section allows the entry of aircraft specific squawks to be entered, reviewed and deleted.

Airspace This handy review allows the pilot to quickly determine minimum equipment and weather requirements for the various airspace classes. The pilot simply selects the airspace (A-G) and the display lists the visibility, cloud distance, equipment, authorization, definition and speed restrictions.
Abbreviations Hundreds of weather abbreviations are contained within the database. The pilot enters the abbreviation (for example, FC) and the definition appears.
System Requirements Palm OS version 3.0 to 4.5.  Note: Presently, this application will not  run on Palm 5.0 (Palm Tungsten T and Sony Clie NX70V).    Tungsten W is compatible.

Palm Pilot device or compatible such as Handspring Visor or the Sony PDA.

Without the AC-U-Kwik database, any PDA with a 2MB capacity can be used.

AC-U-Kwik requires PDA with the 8MB capacity. The actual database can be as much as 4MB for both domestic and international combined.

Multiple aircraft can be installed on a 2MB device depending upon available space and the type of aircraft installed. Contact CAVU for further details.

PC or MAC computer running Palm Desktop software (comes with PDA). Installation on MAC requires Windows emulator.

Palm Pilot PDAs are available through CAVU at preferred pricing.
