CheckMateâ and CAVU Announce Alliance

CAVU Companies, producers of EFB-Pilot tm, an electronic checklist and Weight & Balance calculator for the Palm PDA, announced today that CheckMate Aviation has agreed to provide the checklist databases for the product.

CheckMate is world renown for its “full-data”, color, single-card plastic checklists for over 270 aircraft.  The checklists have received national support from numerous aviation authorities; including the FAA, Air Safety Foundation, National Association of Flight Instructors, AOPA and most aircraft owner organizations.

In addition to providing eCheckMate tm, the electronic version of the checklist that appears on the PDA, CAVU will also provide, free of charge, a matching 5x7” CheckMateâ for back-up purposes.

The EFB-Pilot can be handheld or attached to a special yoke mount that allows interchangeability with a clipboard.  The program allows the pilot to perform normal and emergency checklists without the use of a stylus.  Items are “checked-off” or skipped using the pilot’s finger. “Once-a-day” items can be toggled by the user so that those items are only performed during the first flight of the day.  They are automatically reset the next day or on demand by the pilot.

Skipped items reappear at the end of the list until “checked”.  The next checklist in sequence then cues for completion.  The pilot can scroll between checklists and emergency checklists can be brought forward by pressing the Emergency button.

The user can add or modify explanatory notes for each item.  For example, equipment that becomes inoperative upon pulling a certain circuit breaker.  Pilot’s can add or modify checklist items and even new checklists.

EFB-Pilot provides aircraft specific weight & balance calculations, displaying the results numerically and graphically within an on-screen envelope.  The pilot simply enters the passenger and baggage weights into the pre-set stations and the fuel (gallons or pounds) quantity.  The resulting CG and the aft/fwd limits are displayed.

EFB-Pilot also provides a table of limitations and specifications, such as max-demonstrated crosswind component, V speeds, oil type and frequencies.

EFB-Pilot with the eCheckMate checklist and 5x7” CheckMate starts at $25 for a single engine aircraft. Inquiries and a list of available aircraft can be viewed at either website, www.CAVUcompanies.com or www.CheckMateAviation.com or by calling 800-464-3375.
